Fear Not, For I Am With Thee

“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

We live in a world that is filled with the complexities of navigating through our daily routines spiced with the trials and tribulations that enhance the challenges and cause many to become anxious. We live in the caverns of our days filled with the noise of life searching for a nook or cranny to find a moment of peace. We see a world in which many are centered only upon self and trying to grab ahold of transitory pleasures that quickly pass through their fingers leaving them only with the want for more. Few find their joy and peace in knowing of a mighty God of love who is able and willing to provide all that is needed to sustain them as they travel to the promised home that is set just a minute before them through their faith in a Savior who is always with them. It isn’t easy. It isn’t easy because we live in a dark world filled with traps to snare our walk across the water. We find ourselves somewhat challenged by the words of a Jennifer Tomkins song. “Oh, I swear, just ain’t fair Trouble, trouble everywhere.”

We are God’s Children and He is our provider and there is none greater than He. His Word is true and He has promised by His Word that He will be with us. There is nowhere that we can go that He is not there. There is no trial that we will have to face alone, that we will have to fight alone, and that we will not through Him gain the victory. If we would but wait upon His lead, and follow Him in trusting faith, as our Heavenly Father is our strength. “He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.” (Isaiah 40:29-31

We are in this world walking in faith to the next sharing the news of His salvation and the adversary has tried to stop the march of His truth but has failed sense the Garden of Eden to halt it. He has come that he may destroy man, God’s crown of creation but shall never tempt all to fall into the eternal pit. He is, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” (John 10:10) He shall not win the victory because the Holy Spirit that is within is the very Spirit of God the Creator, the All-Mighty. The Christian is not an orphan lost in a dark world but a child of God bound for His glory. “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)

What could be bigger than God who by His Word created the heavens and the earth? What action of a created angelic being could over power the Creator of all? What word of man could thwart the eternal plan and purpose of God’s will? These all are but a slight thing in the sight of God. “This is but a slight thing in the sight of the LORD.” (2 Kings 3:18)

Look back over your life and see what the Lord has done for you. Can you not think of that unexplainable events when He sent a ministering spirit to render you aid? “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14) Did He not send His Word to come down to abode with men that the light of His truth may enlighten that men would not have to walk in darkness? “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1) Did God not send His Word to dwell amongst men that they may see His glory. “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:16-17) Is He not the power of the universe and beyond? Did God not sacrifice His Son the living Word that through Him our sin debt would be paid, that through Him we who were dead in sin might have life? Did not we by His grace receive salvation through our faith in Jesus that we could be justified, and by His Word be sanctified, and by His righteousness stand in the presence of God the Father Almighty? What in our little lives could be too great for our God?” Our needs are small compared to the riches of His glory. “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

There is no need above what the Heavenly Father will give us. From Him all wisdom, knowledge and understanding come, as He was before the beginning. To show Him reverent fear is the key to all wisdom. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10) The knowledge that the Lord gives is not like the folly of the world’s foolishness but is pure, is all truth, and is the words of life everlasting. “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.” (James 3:17)

There is no greater love than that of God who would give His only begotten Son that whosoever would believe in Him would find eternal life in the perfect Kingdom of Heaven. (John 3:16) There is no greater display in the world than that of a loving God that would lay down His life that His servants might find theirs. Not Mohammad for he requires that his servants die for him but our God gave His life that we might live. “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

There is no greater power than the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of God dwelling within each of us to guide us through this world unto the next. There is no lie or deceit that can take us back to where have escaped from. We can test and defeat each temptation delivered to us by the evil one. We will never find ourselves without voice for the Spirit of Truth will speak through us with the wisdom of God. We know what we know for we know what He has spoken to us in the voice that we follow. For the Holy Spirit lives within us. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.” (John 14:26)

Bring your empty hearts, bring all your burdens, bring your needs, bring them to your Lord and Savior and He will give your rest. “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) Our Lord is a personal God and knows the needs of each and every one. The world runs and chases after things only to find that they are not satisfying and leave a greater hunger for more. “For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.” (Luke 12:30) They run after and become weary and never find rest but God knows the right and good things and His gift is always good and perfect. “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” (James 1:17)

The Christian need never fear as those of the world do, he need not be anxious as they, for they know not the satisfaction for their hunger. They know not the love and security of a right relationship with God the Father through His Son Jesus the Christ. They fear the end of their time, they fear being left alone in the dark, but the Christian lives in the faith trusting the true Word of his God and Savior knowing he will never be left alone without His presence. “And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
